Welcome to Kimo’s Vegas… The Players Edge!
Leaving Las Vegas… Nicolas Cage the star of the movie, foreclosed home sold after less than day on the market. The sale was in line with the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices that reported Vegas home prices are off over 55% from the all-time high (and down for the 39th month in a row). The desert palace sold for about $3.5 million less than its 2006 sale price of $8.5 million). If you’re wondering what that kind of coin buys these days… 14,300-square-feet that includes six bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms, a 16-car subterranean garage, an elevator and a movie theater.
Vegas Law… The Las Vegas Visitor & Convention Authority is petitioning a Nevada judge to throw out an American Cancer Society lawsuit that wants to prevent smoking at tobacco trade shows.
Minus 5 the ice bar at Mandalay Place is remodeling… they’ll be adding 19 tons of ice.
The guys who created the Fountains at Bellagio, WET Design have a unique sculpture at Crystals titled “Glacia”. The 15 columns of water are frozen overnight and are randomly carved as they rise up from a shallow pool. As the ice melts it returns to its original state in the pool of water where the process is repeated.
It wouldn’t be a Super weekend in Vegas without a Playboy Playmate or two… this Friday join 2008 “Playmate of the Year”, Jayde Nicole at Eva Longoria Parker’s new nightclub, Eve across from Aria at Crystals in the MGM Mirage CityCenter.
When you open the door to your room at the Mandarin Oriental… the lights automatically turn on, the music starts, the blackout curtain opens followed by the sheer curtain allowing you to “make an entrance”… if you’ve stayed at the property before it also remembers your AC settings, music preferences etc.
It’s February and there’s still time to book a Valentine Wedding at the Bellagio. For 5g’s they’ll take care of everything including the chapel, flowers, videos, pictures and the Dom.
Another good reason to join a hotels email list… this week the Excalibur is offering rooms starting at $28!
Community property… As part of their divorce settlement Steve Wynn has transferred control of $741 million in Wynn Resorts Stock to his ex-wife Elaine.
There was more prowling in Vegas last week than usual when the 2010 Cougar Convention hit the Tropicana. If you missed the older women who are attracted younger men-vention the group has two cruises planned later year. CNN’s Joy Behar pondered “Why are woman who date younger men called cougars while men who date younger women called… men?”
Lori Nakamura-Higa sent this photo of her daughter Tori and the Higa Snowman at Mt. Charleston. The trek takes about 30 minutes from Downtown Vegas and playing in the snow is now a family tradition… Happy New Year to you guys too!
Happy birthday to you… BOA Steakhouse & Sushi Roku is celebrating its 5th birthday and we get the presents… 50% off all food items Monday – Thursday.
Congrats to Charles Sato of Pahoa who won $5,141 and Morillo Baoit of Honolulu who won $9,434 at the Main Street Station.
